Holiday season is almost here. And that means it’s time to break out the decorations. But holiday decorating can be stressful—and if you want to do it right, it takes significant time, money, and effort to get your holiday arrangement up to snuff.
Lots of businesses are starting to rely on professional decorating services for their holiday décor. And while this is a great option, we’ve noticed that many people have questions about the particulars of hiring a holiday decorator. That’s why we created this handy holiday decorating FAQ:
How do holiday decorating services work?
At Engledow, our holiday decorating services start with a free consultation. This step is critical because it gives us a better sense of your design intent, budget, space, and the unique culture of your company. After the consultation, our in-house designer creates a custom design uniquely tailored to your space. Once you’re satisfied with the design, our team goes to work producing it. And we don’t just install your holiday décor—we also remove it, and can store it until next year, too.
Why would I want to consider a holiday décor service for my office? What if I want to do holiday decorating myself?
Decorating yourself can cause problems because many businesses underestimate the time and employee resources it takes to create a great holiday arrangement—and ultimately you lose productivity. Employees spend part of their workday decorating the office—or even worse, they have to come in and decorate on the weekend. And we don’t want you to fall into that trap. When you also factor in storage space and the work it takes to keep décor looking great year after year, you can see how hiring a professional decorator can actually improve your bottom line.
And by hiring a professional holiday decorating service, you open yourself up to many more customization options. If you want a 20-foot purple and neon green Christmas tree, we can do it. Our customization options are nearly endless. And that gives you much more flexibility.
Do you offer different holiday decorating packages?
Our holiday decorations are customized for each client, and we have no predetermined packages—everything is tailored to your space and needs. And we can do anything from a single poinsettia to a life-size Grinch. Seriously.
Most of our clients rent holiday décor from us, and we store and refresh it for them—but we can also store and maintain decorations that you’ve purchased from us. When clients rent holiday décor, we usually use it for a three-year cycle. After those three years, we can do a totally different design.
What types of decorations do you have available? Do you provide live Christmas trees and fresh wreaths?
Fresh trees and wreaths typically don’t last indoors for the commercial holiday season—and they’re also a fire hazard. But we do provide live poinsettias and potted Norfolk Island Pines along with maintenance for the holidays.
And keep in mind that our holiday decorating services aren’t limited to Christmas decorations. Over the years, we’ve done arrangements celebrating many different cultures from around the world. We can also do neutral arrangements that simply celebrate the spirit of the season. It’s totally up to you.
I want live poinsettias as a part of my holiday décor. How does maintenance work since they’re living?
We do all the maintenance to make sure your poinsettias are looking their best for the entire holiday season—and this is factored into the purchase price along with the containers. When the holiday season is over, we encourage you to give your poinsettias away to employees or donate them to your favorite charity.
What is the cost of holiday decorating services and what areas do you serve?
As you might expect, cost for holiday decorating encompasses a very wide range. Some small arrangements can be just a couple hundred dollars, but if you want to do a large, elaborate arrangement, the sky’s the limit. But this is to your advantage because it allows us to work within the constraints of your budget.
We serve clients in many cities throughout Central Indiana including Muncie, Anderson, Columbus, Terre Haute, Kokomo, Richmond, Lafayette, and Indianapolis.
How quickly do I need to get started? Does your availability fill up?
For many of our clients, we start planning for next year’s holiday décor a full year in advance. This may seem a bit early for some people, but there is a much larger selection of desirable products available just after Christmas, giving you more options to choose from. But if you don’t get started early, you should be sure to get the ball rolling with your décor no later than the first of October.
Our schedule does fill up quickly, but if a client comes to us late in the season, we will do our best to accommodate their needs.
Do you offer any sort of warranty or guarantee for decorations?
Yes. The Engledow Guarantee covers any live plants that we use as part of your décor. In terms of other decorations, we guarantee that if we store and maintain your décor at our warehouse, it will look just as good this year as it did last year. That’s why we’re typically on a three-year cycle for holiday decorations—we’ve noticed that after three years, most decorations start showing signs of deterioration.
For installation, we will narrow down a range of days—usually a certain week—that works best for you. This provides flexibility to get it installed as quickly as possible. We handle décor removal the same way.
I have a very large office building and/or multiple properties. Can you handle it?
Yes—we’ve never come across a project we couldn’t handle. We have some clients that do two poinsettias and others that do 25-foot trees. And if you have multiple properties, we can work with you on developing a comprehensive décor package for your various facilities.
I want to hire you to do our holiday décor, but I’d like to have updated decorations each year. Can I do that?
Absolutely. Pricing will be adjusted accordingly.
