Arbor Day 2013: We Gave, You Planted

Arbor Day is a special day dedicated to planting and caring for trees. More than one million trees were planted on the first Arbor Day in 1872, and it’s grown to become a worldwide phenomenon. It also happens to be one of our favorite holidays here at Engledow Group.

Each year, our country loses millions of trees to wildfires, droughts, insect infestations, and industrial interests. And replacing these trees is critical. That’s because trees have many benefits including preventing soil erosion and providing important natural habitats for wildlife. They also clean the air we breathe and filter contaminants from rainwater and snow. And they can even increase civic pride and property values.

To help celebrate Arbor Day this year, we distributed 4,000 oak tree seedlings on Friday, April 26th at Clay Terrace Mall in Carmel and at The Fashion Mall in Indianapolis. We did this in hopes of educating the public on the importance of trees and to help make our community a greener, healthier place to live and work.

We also partnered with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.—a nonprofit committed to engaging diverse communities to create vibrant public places—to distribute additional oak tree seedlings at the Earth Day Festival held on Saturday, April 27th in downtown Indianapolis. And to help assist Keep Indianapolis Beautiful in their mission, we’re donating one dollar to them for every new Facebook “like” we receive on Engledow’s Facebook page until May 10th.
